Lakeborne Historical Swordsmanship will teach you the way of the sword!
Step into the art of swordsmanship as practiced in the 1500s with our Intro to Medieval Longsword class! Whether you’re curious about Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) or ready to begin your journey into sword fighting, this experience offers the perfect launch into swordsmanship.
What you’ll learn:
- Foundational guard positions straight from the historical manuals
- Perform artful strikes designed for real combat, not just choreography
- Explore the mechanics of authentic longsword traditions
No experience required, just bring your curiosity, courage, and conviction to wield a sword like a champion. This is your chance to learn the real deal and train like a true historical swordsman.
There will be a live steel combat demonstration at the end of the class to show where these skills can take you.

Learn to LARP (Waypoint) Demo – Saturday 12:15 PM
Live Action Role Play (LARP) takes the storytelling elements of games like Dungeons & Dragons and combines them with theatrical elements for an immersive interactive experience. This event provides you with demonstrations from Waypoint LARP. Participants will be invited to participate in a special scenario at the conclusion so they can experience the fun first hand.
Stand Up Comedy Hour – Saturday 2:00 PM
We’re partnering with Laughter on the Lakeshore Comedy Festival to bring you a variety of local comedians who will be bringing their immense talents to our events room. Make sure to check out their merchandise table to support these local artists!
Cosplay Contest – Saturday 3:00 PM
Come show off as your favorite characters for our cosplay contest! Contestants will be judged on costume craftsmanship, stage presence and character accuracy. PG-13 is the general guideline for costumes and prizes will be provided for top performers per age division.
Nerd Trivia – Saturday 4:00 PM
